Installation Notes
- Before starting, shut off the engine and close the raw water intake seacock.
- Remove the cover plate from the sea water pump to access the impeller.
- Use impeller pullers or two pairs of pliers to grip the hub and pull the old impeller straight out. Avoid using screwdrivers, as this can damage the pump housing.
- Clean the interior of the pump housing and inspect it for scoring or damage.
- Lubricate the new impeller and the inside of the pump housing with a water-based lubricant or glycerin. Do not use petroleum-based grease.
- Insert the new impeller, bending the blades in the direction of the pump's rotation.
- Install the new O-ring or gasket on the clean cover plate, then secure the plate with its screws.
- Re-open the seacock, start the engine, and immediately check for proper water flow from the exhaust and for any leaks around the pump cover.
