Product Details
This 12-inch self-centering keel roller simplifies boat loading by automatically guiding your boat's keel into the correct position. The grooved design centers the bow as you roll the boat forward, making solo loading faster and safer. It is designed for universal fitment on boat trailers equipped with a standard 5/8-inch diameter roller shaft.
This component serves as a direct replacement for rollers with the same dimensions, offering a significant upgrade in boat alignment and hull protection.
- Engineered with a grooved channel for automatic self-centering.
- Mounts easily onto a common 5/8" keel roller shaft.
- Constructed from a durable, non-marking polymer that won't scuff or damage your boat's hull.

Confirm your trailer's roller shaft diameter in the table below.

Installation Notes
- Securely block the wheels of the trailer and unhitch it from the tow vehicle. If the boat is on the trailer, ensure it is properly supported to relieve weight from the keel rollers.
- Identify the target keel roller. Remove the cotter pin and washer from one end of the roller shaft.
- Slide the shaft out of the roller bracket, removing the old roller. Clean the shaft and bracket of any dirt or corrosion.
- Slide the new self-centering keel roller into the bracket, aligning its bore with the bracket holes.
- Insert the roller shaft through the bracket and the new roller.
- Secure the shaft in place with the original washer and a new cotter pin. Bend the pin's legs to lock it.
- Ensure the roller spins freely on the shaft without excessive side-to-side movement.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
How does the self-centering feature work?
The roller features a deep central groove. As the boat moves forward onto the trailer, this groove catches the keel and guides it into the center, preventing it from drifting to one side.
Will this roller mark or scratch my boat's hull?
No. It is made from a resilient, non-marking polymer blend (a type of PVC) specifically designed to roll smoothly against gelcoat and painted aluminum hulls without causing scuffs or marks.
How do I confirm this roller will fit my trailer?
The critical measurement is the diameter of your current roller's shaft. This roller is designed for a 5/8-inch shaft, which is a common standard. Also, verify the 11-3/8" length fits your trailer's roller bracket.
What maintenance is required?
Periodically rinse the roller with fresh water to remove salt and debris. Check that it spins freely before each use. If it becomes stiff or worn, check the shaft for corrosion or consider replacement.
