Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and spark plug wires for safety.
- Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gearcase oil drain/vent screws to drain the oil.
- Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine's midsection and carefully lower it.
- Unbolt and remove the old water pump housing assembly. Note the orientation of the components.
- Remove the old impeller, key, gaskets, and seals. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly.
- Install the new gasket, wear plate, and other components from the kit. Lightly grease the new impeller.
- Install the new impeller, making sure the vanes are oriented correctly (typically clockwise).
- Bolt the new housing into place and torque to manufacturer specifications.
- Re-install the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft and water tube are properly aligned.
- Refill the gearcase with fresh lubricant, and reinstall drain/vent screws with new washers.
- Reconnect the battery and spark plug wires. Start the engine and verify a steady water stream from the tell-tale outlet.
