- Reinstall the cover plate and tighten the screws evenly.
- Open the seacock, start the engine, and immediately check for any leaks around the pump cover.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I confirm this impeller fits my engine?
The best way to ensure fitment is to match the part number from your existing impeller or your engine's service manual to the numbers listed in our Part Number Matrix. If you cannot find a part number, compare the dimensions (Diameter, Width, Shaft Diameter, Drive Type) in our Technical Specs with your old part.
Some sources say this impeller has 8 blades, others say 10. Which is it?
The number of blades can vary between manufacturers for the same part number. Both 8-blade and 10-blade versions are designed to meet the required flow and pressure specifications for the listed applications. The key fitment dimensions are the diameter, depth, and shaft type, not the blade count.
What are the signs of a worn or failing impeller?
Common signs include engine overheating at idle or low speeds, reduced water flow from the exhaust outlet, visible cracks on the impeller blades, or blades that have become stiff and brittle. Finding pieces of black rubber in filters or heat exchangers is a definite sign of failure.
How often should I replace my raw water pump impeller?
As a general rule, impellers should be inspected annually and replaced every 1-2 years or every 100-200 engine hours, whichever comes first. Usage in sandy or silty water may require more frequent replacement.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
