Product Details

This Hydrofoil Stabilizer is a wing-shaped planing aid designed to mount on the anti-ventilation plate of most outboard motors and stern drives from 5 to 150 HP. It improves boat handling, helps the vessel plane faster, reduces bow rise, and enhances overall fuel efficiency. It is compatible with both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines.

This unit serves as a direct aftermarket replacement for several part numbers, including SeaSierra FO2001, QuickMarine HS001, UanofCn FO2001, Xingrong HS001, and NorthBoat HS001.

  • Mounts directly to the anti-ventilation plate with the included stainless steel bolt-on hardware.
  • Constructed from marine-grade, UV-resistant Reinforced Nylon PA66 plastic for durability in harsh saltwater and freshwater environments.
  • Features a dorsal fin style design for improved stability and enhanced wing surface area.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 x Hydrofoil Stabilizer
  • 4 x Sets of Stainless Steel Screws and Nuts
  • 1 x 6.5mm Drill Bit
  • 1 x Installation Instructions

Installation Notes

  1. Disconnect the engine's battery and ensure the engine is tilted up securely.
  2. Position the hydrofoil on the anti-ventilation (cavitation) plate. Center it and ensure it does not interfere with the propeller's movement.
  3. Use a marker to mark the drilling locations on the plate through the mounting holes in the hydrofoil.
  4. Remove the hydrofoil and carefully drill the marked holes using the supplied 6.5mm drill bit.
  5. Place the hydrofoil back onto the plate, aligning the holes.
  6. Insert the stainless steel screws from the top and secure them with the nuts from the bottom. Tighten securely, but do not over-torque to avoid damaging the plate.
  7. Double-check that all hardware is tight and the hydrofoil is firmly attached.
  8. Before full-speed operation, conduct a water test at low speeds to check for any changes in handling or performance.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I confirm this hydrofoil will fit my specific outboard motor?

This hydrofoil offers a universal fit for most outboard and stern drive motors from 5-150 HP. The key is to check your anti-ventilation plate's size. The hydrofoil's dimensions are 10-1/4" × 8-1/4", so your plate should be large enough to accommodate it without interfering with the propeller.

What is the advantage of the dorsal fin style design?

The dorsal fin design provides added stability at both high and low speeds. It helps control ventilation (air being drawn into the propeller) and reduces prop blow-out during sharp turns, leading to more precise handling.

I installed the hydrofoil, but my boat is now slower. What's wrong?

While hydrofoils improve planing and stability, they can slightly reduce top-end speed due to increased drag. If the speed loss is significant, re-check the installation angle and position. Ensure the hydrofoil is parallel to the bottom of the boat. Incorrect mounting can create excessive drag.

Can I install this myself, or do I need a marine mechanic?

The installation is straightforward for those with basic mechanical skills and tools. The kit includes all necessary hardware and a drill bit. However, if you are not comfortable drilling into your engine's anti-ventilation plate, professional installation is recommended to ensure safety and proper alignment.

What are the signs that the hydrofoil needs replacement?

Inspect the hydrofoil regularly for signs of stress cracks, warping, or physical damage, especially after impacts. Also, check that the mounting hardware remains tight. If the unit is damaged or cannot be secured firmly, it should be replaced.

Will this prevent porpoising?

A hydrofoil can significantly reduce or eliminate porpoising (the rhythmic bouncing of the bow) by providing stern lift and keeping the bow down. It helps maintain a more consistent and stable planing attitude.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
