- 1 x Water Pump Impeller
Note: Some third-party kits may include gaskets or o-rings, but this listing is for the impeller only.
Installation Notes
- Shut off the engine and allow it to cool completely. Disconnect the battery.
- Close the raw water intake seacock to prevent water from entering the boat.
- Locate the raw water pump and place a rag or container underneath to catch spills.
- Remove the screws from the pump's front cover plate. Note the orientation of the screws if they are different lengths.
- Pry off the cover plate. If it’s stuck, tap it gently with a soft mallet.
- Use impeller pullers or two pairs of needle-nose pliers to grip the hub of the old impeller and pull it straight out.
- Clean the inside of the pump housing and the cover plate, removing any old gasket material or debris.
- Apply a small amount of water-resistant grease or glycerin to the inside of the pump housing and to the new impeller blades.
- Insert the new impeller by gently squeezing the blades together and pushing it in, ensuring the blades bend in the direction of the pump's rotation.
- If your kit includes a new gasket or o-ring, install it on the cover plate or pump body.
- Reinstall the cover plate and tighten the screws in a star pattern to ensure even pressure.
- Open the water intake seacock, reconnect the battery, start the engine, and immediately check for leaks and proper water flow from the exhaust.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I confirm this impeller fits my engine?
The best way to confirm fitment is by checking your existing impeller's part number or your engine's service manual. Compare the part numbers listed in our Part Number Matrix. If you are unsure, please verify your specific pump model, as some engine models were offered with multiple pump options.
What is the recommended replacement interval for this impeller?
For most leisure boats, it is recommended to inspect the impeller annually and replace it every 1-2 years, or after every 100-200 hours of use, whichever comes first. In commercial applications or boats operating in silt-heavy water, more frequent inspection and replacement is advised.
What are the signs of a worn or failing impeller?
Common signs include engine overheating, reduced water flow from the exhaust outlet, visible cracks or missing blades on the impeller, and a stiff or brittle texture. If you notice any of these symptoms, the impeller should be replaced immediately to prevent engine damage.
Is lubrication necessary for installation?
Yes, applying a small amount of glycerin or water-based lubricant to the impeller blades and the inside of the pump housing will make installation easier and prevent damage to the impeller during the first dry start-up. Do not use petroleum-based grease, as it can cause the neoprene to swell and degrade.
My specific pump or engine model is not listed. Can I still use this part?
Our compatibility tables are extensive but may not cover every application. If your model is not listed, do not purchase. The critical factors are the impeller's dimensions (Diameter, Width, Shaft Type) and the part number. If these match your old part, it is likely compatible, but we cannot guarantee fitment for unlisted models.
How does this aftermarket impeller compare to the OEM part?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement, not an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part. It is engineered and manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility to meet or exceed OEM specifications using comparable high-quality materials and manufacturing processes. Each batch is inspected to ensure performance and reliability.
What are the shipping speed and cost?
We ship worldwide quickly—typical transit is 5–15 days. Standard shipping is free for most orders. Expedited shipping options and exact costs will be displayed at checkout if available for your location.
What kind of warranty and return policy applies?
This product is covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal marine use. If you encounter an issue, please contact our support team with your order details for assistance. Returns are accepted within our standard return window for items that are unused and in their original packaging. Please see our full policy page or contact us for instructions.
Safety & Important Info
- Verify images and specifications against your original part before purchasing. If anything differs—even if your model appears compatible—do not purchase.
- This is an aftermarket replacement part, not an OEM component.
- Professional installation is recommended for safety and to ensure optimal performance.
