Installation Notes
- Ensure the engine is off and cool. Place an oil drain pan beneath the existing filter to catch any spills.
- Using an appropriate filter wrench, turn the old filter counter-clockwise to loosen and remove it.
- Wipe the engine's filter mounting surface clean with a lint-free cloth. Ensure the old gasket is not stuck to the engine.
- Apply a thin film of fresh engine oil to the gasket of the new filter.
- Carefully thread the new filter onto the mounting point by hand. Turn clockwise until the gasket makes firm contact with the engine surface.
- Tighten the filter an additional 3/4 to 1 full turn by hand only. Do not use a wrench to tighten, as this can cause damage.
- Refill the engine with the manufacturer-specified oil, check the level with the dipstick, and securely replace the oil fill cap.
- Start the engine and let it run for a minute while checking for leaks around the new filter. Shut off the engine, wait a few minutes, and re-check the oil level, topping off if necessary.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I know if this filter fits my specific engine model?
The best way to confirm fitment is to check your engine's service manual for the correct OEM part number and compare it to the numbers in our Part Number Matrix. You can also use the Engine & Model Compatibility tables provided on this page, but always verify the part number as the primary reference.
What are signs that my oil filter needs replacement?
Common signs include a decrease in engine performance, sputtering, a noticeable drop in oil pressure, or metallic sounds from the engine. However, filters should be replaced at regular service intervals, typically every 100 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first.
Can I use this for a 2-stroke engine?
No. This filter is specifically designed for 4-stroke gasoline outboard engines. Using it on an incompatible engine type can lead to severe engine damage.
What happens if I overtighten the oil filter?
Overtightening the filter can damage the threads on the filter or the engine's mounting stud, crush the gasket leading to an oil leak, or make the filter extremely difficult to remove during the next service.
Is this aftermarket filter the same quality as an OEM part?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). It is built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials and is manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility. Each batch is inspected for quality and consistency to ensure reliable performance.
How fast do you ship and what does it cost?
We ship worldwide quickly—typical transit is 5–15 days. Standard shipping is free for most orders, with expedited options available at checkout depending on your location.
What is the warranty and return policy?
This product is covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal marine use. If you encounter an issue, please contact our support team with your order details. Returns of unused items in their original condition are accepted within our standard return window. Please see our full policy page or contact us for instructions.
Safety & Important Info
- Verify images/specifications vs your original part. If anything differs—even if your model appears compatible—do not purchase.
