Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if my oil pressure sensor is failing?

Common signs include an oil pressure warning light that is always on, flickers intermittently, or provides an incorrect reading (e.g., zero or maxed out) on the gauge.

Will this fit my specific Volvo Penta 5.0GXi engine?

This sensor fits most V6/V8 gasoline engines from the 1990s to early 2020s, including 5.0L models. However, always verify your engine's specific part number against the references in our Part Number Matrix to ensure a perfect match.

Is this a sender for a gauge or a switch for a warning light?

This is an oil pressure warning switch. Its job is to trigger an alarm (like a dashboard light or buzzer) when the engine's oil pressure drops below a safe minimum threshold. It does not provide a variable pressure reading to a gauge.

What is the recommended replacement interval?

There is no fixed replacement interval for oil pressure sensors. They are typically replaced only when they fail or during a major engine overhaul as a preventative measure.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
