Product Details

This marine-grade zinc alloy trim tab anode is designed as a replacement for selected Yamaha 150–200 HP outboard applications. The sacrificial anode helps protect exposed underwater metal components from galvanic corrosion and also serves as the adjustable trim tab used to help counteract propeller torque steer.

The supplied application information covers Yamaha 2-stroke L150 and L200 models, including listed model-year variants from 1987 through 1999, as well as selected 4-stroke LZ150, LF150, LZ200, and LF200 models. Always compare the original anode’s shape, mounting location, rotation specification, and part number before ordering.

This aftermarket replacement is listed for Yamaha part numbers 6K1-45371-01-00 and 6K1-45371-02-00, along with the aftermarket references shown below. The 01-00 and 02-00 versions may correspond to different engine applications, including standard- and counter-rotation configurations; verify the required reference for your specific engine.

  • Direct bolt-on replacement using a single-bolt mounting point.
  • Includes one mounting fastener as listed in the package contents.
  • Made from zinc alloy for sacrificial corrosion protection.
  • Suitable for marine use; zinc selection should be matched to the water type and the engine manufacturer’s anode requirements.

What’s in the Box

  • 1 x Zinc trim tab anode
  • 1 x Mounting bolt

Installation Notes

  1. Turn the engine off, disconnect the battery, tilt the outboard up, and secure it before beginning work.
  2. Locate the trim tab anode beneath the anti-cavitation plate or at the specified gearcase mounting position.
  3. Remove the existing mounting bolt and take off the worn anode.
  4. Clean the mounting surface and contact area thoroughly. Remove corrosion, paint, and debris so the anode can make good electrical contact with the gearcase.
  5. Position the replacement anode in the same orientation as the original and install the supplied mounting bolt.
  6. Tighten the bolt to the engine manufacturer’s recommended torque. Do not overtighten or damage the gearcase threads.
  7. After installation, check that the anode is secure and that steering and trim functions operate normally before launching the boat.

Maintenance & FAQ

What is the difference between 6K1-45371-01-00 and 6K1-45371-02-00?

The two references are associated with different Yamaha application configurations in the supplied fitment information. The 02-00 reference is listed with counter-rotation applications. Confirm the exact part number, engine model, rotation configuration, and original anode shape before ordering.

When should a trim tab anode be replaced?

Inspect the anode regularly and replace it when substantial material has been consumed, when it is heavily pitted or crumbling, or when it can no longer provide a sound electrical connection. Inspection intervals depend on water salinity, operating hours, and the boat’s overall corrosion environment.

What does the trim tab do?

In addition to providing sacrificial corrosion protection, the adjustable tab can help counteract propeller torque steer and improve straight-line handling. Set its angle according to the engine manufacturer’s guidance.

Can this zinc anode be used in freshwater?

Zinc anodes are commonly used in saltwater applications. Anode material should be selected for the actual water type and the engine manufacturer’s recommendation; aluminum or magnesium may be specified for some freshwater or mixed-water applications. Do not assume that a zinc anode is correct for every environment.

Is this an OEM part?

No. This listing is for an aftermarket replacement. Yamaha part numbers are shown only as manufacturer reference numbers for application comparison.

How should I confirm fitment?

Compare the original part number, engine model, year, horsepower, stroke, rotation configuration, mounting position, and physical shape. If any of these details differ, confirm compatibility with the engine manufacturer or a qualified marine technician before ordering.

Safety & Important Information

  • Do not rely on horsepower alone to confirm fitment; model, year, stroke, rotation, and part number must also agree.
  • Inspect the replacement against the original anode before installation.
  • Disconnect the battery and secure the tilted engine during installation.
  • Use the manufacturer’s torque specification and do not overtighten the mounting bolt.
  • Professional installation is recommended when the mounting threads, gearcase, or steering system are damaged or corroded.
