Installation Notes
- Disconnect the negative battery cable before beginning work.
- Remove the lower unit (gearcase) from the outboard motor by unbolting it.
- Locate and remove the bolts securing the water pump housing.
- Carefully lift the housing off the driveshaft, noting any gaskets or seals.
- Inspect the housing interior and wear plate for deep grooves, warping, or cracks. Replace if damaged.
- Slide the old impeller off the driveshaft, noting the direction its vanes are bent. Remove the drive key.
- Install the new drive key and slide the new impeller onto the shaft.
- Apply a light coat of marine grease to the inside of the pump housing.
- Push the housing down over the impeller while turning the driveshaft clockwise to correctly flex the vanes.
- Secure the housing with its bolts, reattach the lower unit, and test the engine in water to confirm proper water flow.
