Product Details

This water pump impeller with key is intended for select Johnson and Evinrude OMC 2-stroke outboard motors rated from 55 to 75 HP. The impeller circulates cooling water through the outboard cooling system to help maintain proper operating temperature.

Company application data lists coverage for 55 HP models from 1968–1969, 60 HP models from 1970–1971, 65 HP models from 1972–1973, 70 HP models from 1974–1978, and 75 HP models from 1974–1978. Confirm the exact model, year, gearcase configuration, and existing impeller dimensions before ordering.

The impeller is listed against Johnson/Evinrude/OMC references 0765431, 0777824, and 0382547. The package includes the impeller and a drive key.

  • Replacement water pump impeller for specified Johnson/Evinrude OMC 2-stroke outboards.
  • Includes one matching drive key for the impeller-to-driveshaft connection.
  • Designed to restore water-pump circulation when the original impeller is worn, hardened, cracked, or damaged.

Installation Notes

  1. Turn off the engine, disconnect the battery where applicable, and allow the engine to cool completely.
  2. Remove the lower unit according to the service procedure for your specific Johnson or Evinrude model. Disconnect the shift linkage as required.
  3. Remove the water-pump housing from the top of the gearcase.
  4. Remove the old impeller and drive key. Clean debris and inspect the housing, wear plate, seals, and water-pump components for damage.
  5. Install the supplied key in the driveshaft keyway and slide the new impeller into position.
  6. Use clean water or a suitable water-based lubricant during installation so the vanes are not damaged during initial start-up. Do not run the engine without an adequate water supply.
  7. Reinstall the water-pump housing, gaskets, seals, and related components according to the engine manufacturer’s service instructions.
  8. Reinstall the lower unit, reconnect the shift linkage, and confirm correct gear-shift operation.
  9. Test the engine in an appropriate water supply and verify a steady cooling-water discharge. Stop the engine immediately if water flow is weak or the engine overheats.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if my impeller needs replacing?

Common signs include weak or missing water discharge, an overheating warning, reduced cooling-water pressure, or an impeller that is cracked, hardened, swollen, or missing vanes. Inspect the impeller during scheduled water-pump service and replace it whenever its condition is questionable.

Does this impeller fit both Johnson and Evinrude engines?

It is listed for selected Johnson and Evinrude OMC 2-stroke outboards in the 55–75 HP range, with the year ranges shown above. Brand and horsepower alone do not confirm fitment; verify the exact model, year, gearcase, and original impeller dimensions.

What causes premature impeller failure?

Running the engine without sufficient water, ingesting sand or debris, prolonged storage, age-related hardening, and damaged or corroded pump-housing components can shorten impeller life.

Is the drive key included?

Yes. This listing includes one water-pump impeller and one drive key. Confirm that the supplied key matches the driveshaft keyway before installation.

Is this an OEM part?

No. This is an aftermarket replacement. The listed OEM and aftermarket numbers are provided as application references and should be verified against your engine before purchase.

Does the package include a complete water-pump repair kit?

No. The package includes the impeller and drive key only. A housing, wear plate, gasket, seal, or other water-pump service parts are not included unless specifically listed.

Safety & Important Info

  • Verify the complete engine model, year, horsepower, stroke, gearcase configuration, and original part dimensions before ordering.
  • Do not run an outboard without an adequate water supply. Running dry can damage the new impeller within seconds.
  • Inspect the water-pump housing, wear plate, seals, and water tube during installation and replace damaged components as needed.
  • Professional installation is recommended if you are unfamiliar with lower-unit removal or shift-linkage adjustment.
