Installation Notes
- Disconnect the negative battery cable for safety.
- Drain the gearcase oil from the lower unit.
- Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine's midsection.
- Carefully detach the lower unit, watching for the shift shaft linkage.
- Unbolt and remove the water pump housing cover.
- Pry or pull the old impeller off the driveshaft, nothing its blade orientation.
- Thoroughly clean the impeller housing, wear plate, and all sealing surfaces.
- Lightly grease the new impeller and housing interior. Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft while turning the shaft clockwise to seat the blades correctly.
- Reinstall the water pump housing and torque its bolts to manufacturer specs.
- Reattach the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, water tube, and shift shaft align properly.
- Refill the gearcase with fresh marine gear oil.
- Reconnect the battery and test the engine in the water, verifying a strong tell-tale stream.
