  4. Unscrew the bolts on the water pump housing cover to access the impeller.

  6. Clean any debris or corrosion from the housing interior. Lightly grease the housing.

  10. Reattach the lower unit to the engine, aligning the driveshaft and copper water tube. Securely fasten all bolts.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How can I tell if my impeller is failing?

Common signs of a worn or damaged impeller include the engine overheating at idle or low speeds, a weak or non-existent stream of water from the "tell-tale" port, or finding bits of rubber in the cooling passages or thermostat.

How often should I replace the water pump impeller?

For preventative maintenance, it is recommended to replace the impeller every one to two years, or every 100-200 hours of operation, depending on usage conditions (e.g., saltwater vs. freshwater, sandy/silty water).

Is this impeller difficult to install?

Installation requires basic mechanical skills and tools to remove the lower unit. While it can be done by a knowledgeable owner, we recommend professional installation if you are unfamiliar with the process to prevent damage to the engine.

Will this fit engine models outside the listed years?

We can only guarantee fitment for the specific models and years listed (Suzuki DT8 and DT9.9, 1988–1997). Using it on other models is not recommended, as dimensions and specifications can vary.

What is the purpose of the included key?

The small key fits into a slot on the driveshaft and a corresponding groove inside the impeller's hub. This locks the impeller to the shaft, ensuring it spins correctly with the engine to pump water.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.

Shipping speed & cost?

We ship worldwide quickly—typical transit 5–15 days. Standard shipping is free; expedited options appear at checkout where available.

Warranty & returns?

Covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If issues arise, contact support with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard window (unused & in original condition). See our policy page or reach out for instructions.

  • Verify images/specifications vs your original part. If anything differs—even if your model appears compatible—do not purchase.
