Locate and remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the upper casing.
Carefully lower the gearcase, disconnecting the shift linkage if necessary.
Unbolt and remove the water pump housing cover to access the impeller.
Remove the old impeller, noting the direction of the vanes. Pay attention to the keyway.
Clean the housing and install the new impeller, using a twisting motion in the correct rotational direction to seat the vanes.
Apply a light coat of marine grease to the new gaskets and reassemble the pump housing.
Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, water tube, and shift shaft align correctly.
Once assembled, test the engine using a water source (flusher or in water) to confirm proper cooling function.
