Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and shift the outboard into neutral.
- Remove the lower unit (gearcase) by unbolting it from the engine's midsection.
- Locate and unbolt the water pump housing cover on top of the lower unit.
- Take note of the old impeller’s blade orientation before removing it.
- Slide the old impeller off the driveshaft, and remove the impeller key.
- Thoroughly clean the inside of the pump housing and inspect it for wear or damage.
- Install the new impeller key into the slot on the driveshaft.
- Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft, rotating it clockwise to bend the blades correctly.
- Lightly grease the housing and reassemble the water pump. Reinstall the lower unit.
- Start the engine using a water source (flushing muffs) and verify a strong tell-tale stream.
