Important: The package does not include an O-ring, gasket, cover plate, pump housing, or installation tool.
Installation Notes
- Close the engine's raw-water intake valve or seacock.
- Locate the raw-water pump and remove the screws securing the end cover plate.
- Carefully remove the cover plate and note the direction in which the old impeller blades are bent.
- Remove the old impeller using an impeller puller or suitable pliers. Avoid gouging the pump housing.
- Clean debris and old gasket material from the pump housing and cover plate, and inspect the housing and cover for scoring or damage.
- Install a suitable new pump seal or gasket if the existing seal is worn or damaged. A replacement seal is not included with this impeller.
- Lubricate the inside of the pump housing and the new impeller with a water-based lubricant or dish soap. Do not use petroleum-based grease on the neoprene impeller.
- Insert the new impeller while turning the engine crankshaft in its normal direction of rotation so the blades are oriented correctly.
- Reinstall the cover plate and tighten its screws evenly.
- Open the seacock, start the engine, and immediately check water flow and the pump area for leaks.
