Installation Notes
- Disconnect the spark plug wires and shift the outboard into neutral.
- Remove the lower unit (gearcase) by unbolting it from the engine's midsection.
- Unbolt and carefully remove the old water pump housing assembly. Note the orientation of the components.
- Clean the driveshaft and mating surfaces on the gearcase, removing any old gasket material.
- Install the new grommet, seals, and wear plate into the gearcase and new housing.
- Slide the new impeller key onto the driveshaft and install the new neoprene impeller, turning the shaft clockwise to bed the vanes correctly inside the pump cup.
- Assemble the new pump housing with the new gasket and secure it with the provided bolts, torquing to manufacturer specifications.
- Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the water tube and driveshaft align correctly.
- Reconnect the spark plug wires. Test the engine in water to verify a strong stream from the tell-tale outlet.
