Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I know if this kit fits my 4HP Deluxe model?
This kit is listed as compatible with 4 Deluxe models from 1989–1996. However, due to variations, we strongly recommend you verify fitment for earlier models (pre-1993) by comparing the parts in the product images to your existing water pump assembly before ordering.
Does this kit include the water pump housing?
Yes. This is a complete repair kit that includes the water pump housing, impeller, wear plate, cup, gaskets, and associated hardware as pictured and listed in the "What's in the Box" section.
What are the signs of a failing water pump impeller?
Common signs include the engine overheating at idle or low speeds, a weak or non-existent "telltale" water stream, or a melted/deformed water pump housing upon inspection. Reduced engine performance can also be an indicator.
How often should I replace my outboard's impeller?
As a general maintenance guideline, it's recommended to inspect and/or replace the water pump impeller every 1-2 years or every 100-200 hours of use, depending on operating conditions (e.g., more frequently in saltwater or sandy/silty water).
My engine is overheating, but the telltale stream looks fine. Could it still be the pump?
While a weak telltale is a primary sign, it's not the only one. A worn impeller might still produce a visible stream but fail to provide sufficient volume or pressure to cool the engine block under load. If overheating persists, inspecting the entire cooling system, including the pump and thermostats, is necessary.
Why choose an aftermarket part over OEM?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). It is built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials and manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, then batch-inspected for consistency. This offers a reliable, cost-effective alternative to original parts without sacrificing performance.
What are your shipping speeds and costs?
We ship worldwide quickly—typical transit is 5–15 days. Standard shipping is free for most orders, with expedited options available at checkout where applicable.
What is the warranty and return policy?
This product is covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If you encounter an issue, please contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard window for unused items in their original condition. See our policy page or reach out for instructions.
