Installation Notes
- Disconnect the engine's battery and shift the outboard into neutral.
- Remove the lower unit (gearcase) by unbolting it from the engine leg.
- Unscrew the bolts holding the water pump housing and lift it off the driveshaft.
- Take note of the old components' orientation before removal. Remove the old impeller, wear plate, and seals.
- Thoroughly clean the inside of the housing and inspect it for cracks or warping.
- Install the new wear plate, gaskets, and O-rings as provided in the kit.
- Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft, turning the shaft clockwise to bed the vanes correctly.
- Apply a thin layer of marine grease to the inside of the housing and reinstall it. Secure the bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
- Reattach the lower unit to the engine.
- Once fully assembled, start the engine in a water-filled test tank or with a hose attachment to confirm water is pumping correctly from the tell-tale outlet.
