Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cover.
- Place the outboard gear selector in the neutral position.
- Drain the gearcase oil into a suitable container.
- Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine midsection.
- Carefully lower and separate the gearcase from the driveshaft housing. Be mindful of the shift shaft.
- Unbolt and remove the old water pump housing, impeller, gaskets, and wear plate. Clean all mating surfaces.
- Install the new wear plate, gaskets, and impeller. Lubricate the impeller and inside of the housing with a suitable marine lubricant.
- Align and install the new water pump housing, ensuring the impeller vanes are correctly oriented (turn the driveshaft clockwise while pushing down).
- Torque the housing bolts to the manufacturer's specified value.
- Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, water tube, and shift shaft are properly aligned.
- Refill the gearcase with fresh oil.
- Start the engine in a test tank or with a flusher attached and verify proper water flow from the tell-tale port.
