Installation Notes

Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cover.
Shift the outboard into forward gear to simplify driveshaft alignment during reassembly.
Drain the gearcase oil into a suitable container.
Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the upper driveshaft housing. Carefully separate the lower unit.
Locate and unbolt the water pump housing. Slide it up and off the driveshaft.
Remove the old impeller, key, wear plate, and gaskets. Note their orientation.
Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly, removing any old gasket material or corrosion.
Install the new gaskets, wear plate, impeller key, and impeller. Lightly grease the inside of the new housing.
Install the new housing, ensuring the impeller vanes are oriented correctly (typically clockwise).
Reinstall the lower unit, making sure the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube align correctly.
Refill the gearcase with fresh oil and start the engine in water to test for proper water circulation from the tell-tale outlet.
