Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and ensure the engine is off and cool.
- Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gearcase drain/fill screws to drain the gear lube.
- Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine housing.
- Carefully lower and remove the lower unit from the driveshaft housing.
- Unbolt and remove the water pump housing cover to access the impeller.
- Note the rotational direction of the old impeller blades before removing it from the shaft.
- Remove the old impeller, key, wear plate, gaskets, and seals. Clean all surfaces thoroughly.
- Install the new wear plate, gaskets, and seals provided in the kit.
- Slide the new impeller onto the shaft while turning the driveshaft in its normal rotational direction to seat the blades correctly. Insert the key.
- Reinstall the water pump housing and torque its bolts to the manufacturer's specification.
- Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube align correctly. Refill with fresh gear lube.
- Start the engine using a water supply (flushing muffs) and verify water is exiting the tell-tale port, indicating proper pump operation.
