Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and ensure the engine is off and cool.
- Lower the sterndrive unit to the full down position.
- Remove the propeller and drain the gearcase oil.
- Unbolt and carefully separate the lower unit from the upper housing.
- Locate and unbolt the water pump housing on top of the lower unit.
- Remove the old housing, impeller, gaskets, and wear plates. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly.
- Install the new gaskets, wear plate, and impeller key.
- Install the new impeller, making sure to orient the vanes correctly (typically clockwise).
- Assemble the new housing with its seals and gaskets. Torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
- Re-install the lower unit, refill with gear oil, and re-install the propeller.
- Reconnect the battery and test the engine with a water supply, ensuring a strong stream from the tell-tale.
