Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I know if this impeller kit fits my Suzuki engine?
This kit is designed for Suzuki 4 HP and 5 HP 2-stroke outboards (DT4, DT5, DT4/J4, DT5Y, DT4K1) from years 1984–2002. The surest way to confirm fitment is to check your engine's OEM part number requirement against the numbers listed in our Part Number Matrix.
Does this kit fit Johnson/Evinrude models?
This kit is a known cross-reference for several Johnson/Evinrude part numbers, including 5030352. However, because specific model compatibility is not confirmed, we strongly recommend you verify your old part number before ordering for a Johnson/Evinrude engine.
What are the signs of a failing water pump impeller?
Common signs include a weak or non-existent stream of water from the "telltale" outlet, engine overheating alarms, and reduced engine performance. A damaged impeller can cause severe engine damage if not replaced.
How often should I replace my water pump impeller?
As a general maintenance rule, it's recommended to inspect and/or replace the impeller every 1-2 years or every 100-200 hours of use, whichever comes first. Usage in saltwater or sandy/silty conditions may require more frequent replacement.
Can I just replace the impeller and not the whole kit?
While possible, it is highly recommended to replace all components in the kit (impeller, gasket, wear plate) at the same time. The wear plate and housing can become scored over time, reducing pump efficiency even with a new impeller.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
