Installation Notes

Disconnect the negative battery cable before starting work.
Remove the lower unit (gearcase) from the outboard's midsection by undoing the mounting bolts.
Unscrew the water pump housing bolts and carefully lift the housing off the driveshaft.
Observe the rotational direction of the old impeller fins before removing it.
Remove the old impeller, woodruff key, wear plate, and any gasket remnants.
Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the housing and wear plate area.
Install the new gasket and wear plate onto the lower unit.
Place the new woodruff key in its slot on the driveshaft.
Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft, twisting it clockwise to bend the fins correctly as you lower the housing over it.
Secure the water pump housing with its bolts, tightening them to the torque specified in your service manual.
Reinstall the lower unit onto the outboard, ensuring the driveshaft and water tube are properly aligned.
Once fully assembled, test the engine in a water tank or on the water to confirm the cooling system is pumping water.
