Installation Notes

Disconnect the spark plug leads and battery cables for safety.
Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gearcase oil drain screw to empty the oil.
Remove the bolts securing the gearcase (lower unit) to the engine. Carefully lower it away from the drive shaft housing.
Unbolt and remove the water pump housing to expose the old impeller and gaskets.
Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly, removing any old gasket material or sealant residue.
Install the new lower gasket, wear plate, and Woodruff key on the driveshaft.
Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft, turning the shaft clockwise to align the fins correctly.
Install the new upper gasket and bolt down the housing assembly to the specified torque.
Lightly grease the driveshaft splines and reinstall the gearcase, ensuring the water tube and shift shaft are aligned.
Refill the gearcase with fresh marine gear lube.
Reconnect the battery and spark plugs. Start the engine in water and verify a strong, steady stream from the tell-tale outlet.
