Installation Notes
- Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent accidental starting.
- Remove the lower unit (gearcase) from the outboard motor.
- Unscrew the bolts securing the water pump housing and remove the housing.
- Slide the old impeller off the driveshaft, removing the Woodruff key. Note the direction of the old impeller vanes.
- Remove the old wear plate and gaskets, then clean all mating surfaces thoroughly.
- Install the new gasket and pump plate. Insert the new Woodruff key into the driveshaft.
- Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft while turning the shaft clockwise to bed the vanes correctly.
- Apply a light coat of marine grease to the inside of the housing, then reinstall the housing and seals.
- Reinstall the lower unit, reconnect the battery, and test the engine in water to confirm a strong tell-tale stream.
