Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the battery and shift the outboard into neutral.
2. Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gear lube drain screw to empty the oil.
3. Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine.
4. Carefully lower and separate the lower unit from the driveshaft housing.
5. Locate and unbolt the water pump housing.
6. Remove the old impeller, gaskets, wear plate, and O-rings. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly.
7. Inspect the water pump housing for cracks, warping, or scoring. Replace if necessary.
8. Install the new wear plate, gaskets, pump cup, and impeller from the kit. Ensure the impeller vanes are oriented correctly.
9. Reinstall the water pump housing, torquing the bolts to manufacturer specifications.
10. Reassemble the lower unit to the engine, ensuring the driveshaft and water tube align correctly.
11. Refill the lower unit with the specified marine gear lube.
12. Reconnect the battery, start the engine using a water source (flushing muffs), and verify a strong water stream from the tell-tale outlet.
