Product Details

This water pump impeller is an aftermarket service part for selected Yamaha 2-stroke outboard motors. It is listed for Yamaha 6 HP and 8 HP applications, including the 6A, P165, and 8A model series. A properly fitted impeller helps maintain water circulation through the outboard cooling system.

This impeller is associated with Yamaha OEM reference numbers 655-44352-09-00, 655-44352-09, and 647-44352-00. It is also cross-referenced with aftermarket number HJB-J-655. Confirm the complete engine model, stroke, year or serial range, and the part number on your original component before ordering.

  • Replacement water pump impeller for selected Yamaha outboard applications.
  • Made from neoprene-style marine impeller material for service in a water-pump housing.
  • Sold as one impeller; the installation key is not included.

  9. Reattach the lower unit to the midsection and tighten all fasteners to the manufacturer's specifications.
  10. Start the engine only in an appropriate test tank or with the correct flushing equipment, and verify a strong, steady tell-tale stream before normal operation.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I confirm this impeller fits my Yamaha outboard?

Compare your complete Yamaha engine model, stroke, year or serial information, the original impeller dimensions, and the applicable OEM reference number. The identified model leads are Yamaha 6A, P165, and 8A 2-stroke engines, but model-family names alone do not confirm every year or serial range.

What are the signs of a failing water-pump impeller?

Common signs include a weak or intermittent tell-tale stream, overheating, or reduced cooling performance. Remove and inspect the old impeller for cracked, brittle, permanently deformed, or missing vanes.

How often should an outboard impeller be replaced?

Impeller replacement intervals depend on the engine manufacturer's maintenance schedule and operating conditions. Saltwater, sand, silt, long storage periods, and running without adequate water supply can accelerate wear. Inspect and replace the impeller according to the service manual.

Is the drive key included?

No. This listing is for one water-pump impeller only. Reuse the correct serviceable key or obtain a replacement key separately when required by your engine.

Can I install this impeller myself?

Experienced boat owners may perform this service with the appropriate tools and service information. If you are unfamiliar with lower-unit removal or water-pump servicing, professional installation is recommended. Incorrect installation can cause inadequate cooling and severe engine damage.

Is this an OEM part?

No. This is an aftermarket replacement impeller. Yamaha reference numbers are provided for identification and cross-reference purposes only.

Does this listing include a complete water-pump service kit?

No. The package contains one impeller only. The drive key, housing, gasket, wear plate, and other water-pump components are not included unless separately specified.

Safety & Important Info

  • Verify the complete engine model, stroke, year or serial range, dimensions, and OEM reference before purchase.
  • Compare the replacement impeller with the original component before installation.
  • Do not run an outboard without an adequate water supply.
  • This is an aftermarket replacement, not an OEM component.
  • Professional installation is recommended if you are not familiar with lower-unit or water-pump service.
