Installation Notes
- Disconnect the spark plug leads and battery cables for safety.
- Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gearcase oil drain screw to empty the oil.
- Unbolt and carefully lower the gearcase (lower unit) from the outboard's driveshaft housing.
- Remove the water pump housing bolts and lift the housing to expose the impeller and wear plate.
- Remove the old impeller, key, gaskets, and plates. Clean all surfaces thoroughly.
- Install the new components in the reverse order of removal, ensuring the impeller key is correctly seated.
- Apply a light coat of marine grease to the inside of the housing and slide it down while turning the driveshaft clockwise to seat the impeller vanes correctly.
- Re-install the lower unit, refill with fresh gearcase oil, and reconnect battery/spark plugs.
