Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and shift the outboard into neutral.
- Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gear oil drain/fill screws to empty the gearcase oil.
- Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the upper driveshaft housing. Carefully separate the lower unit.
- Unbolt and remove the old water pump housing to access the impeller and wear plate.
- Remove the old impeller, key, wear plate, gaskets, and seals. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly.
- Install the new gasket and wear plate onto the gearcase.
- Slide the new impeller key into the driveshaft slot. Install the new impeller, turning the driveshaft clockwise to seat the blades correctly inside the new insert cup.
- Install the new seals into the water pump housing.
- Place the new insert cup and gasket on the pump housing and reinstall the complete housing assembly, tightening bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
- Carefully guide the lower unit back into place, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube align correctly. Secure the mounting bolts.
- Refill the lower unit with fresh gearcase oil until it flows from the upper vent hole, then reinstall both oil screws with new gaskets.
- Reconnect the battery and test the engine using a water supply (flushing muffs or in water) to verify proper water circulation.
