Troubleshooting & FAQ
How can I confirm this kit fits my Mercury 2HP engine?
This kit is specifically for Mercury/Mariner 2 HP 2-Stroke outboards (models 2A, 2B) from 1984 to 2002 using a small gear housing. Please check your engine's model and year against the compatibility table and verify your existing part numbers match the ones listed in the Part Number Matrix.
What are the signs of a failing water pump?
Common symptoms include a weak or non-existent water stream from the "tell-tale" outlet, engine overheating alarms, or a noticeable decrease in engine performance. Inspecting the impeller during routine maintenance is the best preventative measure.
How often should the water pump impeller be replaced?
As a general rule, it's recommended to inspect the impeller annually and replace it every 1-2 years or every 100-200 hours of use, whichever comes first. Usage in saltwater or sandy/murky water may require more frequent replacement.
Does this kit include a new water pump housing?
No, this is a repair kit that includes the internal wear items: impeller, wear plate, insert cup, and all necessary seals and gaskets. The outer housing is not included. You should reuse your existing housing if it is not cracked or excessively worn.
What is the difference between OEM and aftermarket parts?
This listing is for an aftermarket replacement component, not an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part. It has been engineered to meet or exceed OEM-level specifications using comparable materials. Our parts are manufactured in an ISO 9002 certified facility and are batch-inspected to ensure quality and consistency.
What are your shipping speeds and costs?
We ship worldwide quickly, with a typical transit time of 5–15 days for most regions. Standard shipping is free. Expedited shipping options, if available for your location, will be presented at checkout.
What is the warranty and return policy?
This product is covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal operating conditions. If you encounter an issue, please contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window for unused items in their original condition. See our official policy page or reach out for detailed instructions.
Safety & Important Info
- Verify images and specifications against your original part. If anything differs—even if your model appears compatible—do not purchase.
