Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery terminals to prevent accidental starting.
- Shift the outboard into neutral and remove the lower unit (gearcase) bolts. Carefully separate the lower unit from the upper casing.
- Unbolt and remove the old water pump housing. Take note of the position of all parts.
- Remove the old impeller, gaskets, and wear plate. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly, removing any old gasket material or corrosion.
- Install the new pump case under panel (wear plate) and gasket.
- Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft. Apply a small amount of marine grease to the inside of the pump housing and install it over the impeller, turning the driveshaft clockwise to seat the vanes.
- Install the new seals and sleeve as required by your model.
- Secure the new housing with the original bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer's specified torque.
- Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube align correctly.
- Once reassembled, start the engine in water and verify a steady stream of water is exiting the tell-tale port.
