Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery cables and remove the engine cowling.
- Shift the outboard into neutral. Locate and remove the mounting bolts that secure the lower unit (gearcase) to the midsection.
- Carefully lower and remove the gearcase from the outboard. It's helpful to have an assistant for this step.
- Place the gearcase on a stable workbench and unbolt the water pump housing.
- Remove the old impeller, housing, wear plate, seals, and O-rings, noting their orientation.
- Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces, ensuring they are free of old gasket material, salt, or corrosion.
- Install the new components from the kit. Lightly lubricate the new impeller and the inside of the housing with marine grease.
- When installing the new impeller, turn the driveshaft clockwise to correctly orient the vanes.
- Reinstall the water pump housing and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
- Reattach the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube are correctly aligned. Fasten the mounting bolts securely.
- Attach a water supply (flushing muffs) to the gearcase, start the engine, and immediately check for a steady stream from the tell-tale outlet.
