Installation Notes

Professional installation is recommended. The general steps are as follows:

1. Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cover.
2. Drain the gearcase lube from the lower unit.
3. Remove the mounting bolts securing the lower unit to the engine's upper section.
4. Carefully detach the lower unit. You may need to disconnect a speedometer tube or shift linkage.
5. Unbolt and remove the old water pump housing assembly.
6. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly, removing any old gasket material or corrosion.
7. Assemble the new components from the kit. Install the new woodruff key and impeller onto the driveshaft.
8. Install the new gaskets, cartridge insert, and outer plate.
9. Bolt down the new water pump assembly to the specified torque.
10. Re-install the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, water tube, and shift shaft align correctly.
11. Refill the lower unit with fresh marine gear lube.
12. Reconnect the battery and test the engine's cooling function in water, ensuring a steady stream from the tell-tale port.
