Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the battery and shift the outboard into the neutral position.
2. Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gearcase oil drain/fill screws to drain the lubricant.
3. Remove the bolts that connect the lower unit (gearcase) to the upper driveshaft housing.
4. Carefully lower and separate the gearcase from the engine assembly.
5. Locate the water pump assembly and remove its mounting bolts.
6. Remove the old housing, impeller, wear plate, gaskets, and O-rings. Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces of any debris or old gasket material.
7. Install the new components from the kit in the reverse order of removal. A light coating of marine grease on the new impeller can ease installation.
8. Reinstall the water pump housing, ensuring bolts are torqued to the manufacturer's specifications.
9. Carefully guide the lower unit back into place, ensuring the driveshaft, water tube, and shift linkage are correctly aligned.
10. Reinstall the lower unit bolts and refill the gearcase with fresh, high-quality marine gear oil.
11. Once assembled, test the engine using a water source (flushing "muffs" or in the water) to verify strong and steady water flow from the tell-tale outlet.
