Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I know if this impeller fits my Honda outboard?
This impeller is made for Honda 4-stroke models from 35 HP to 60 HP (including BF35, BF40, BF45, BF50, and BF60) manufactured from 1997 to present. The simplest way to confirm is to check if your engine's service manual lists 19210-ZV5-003 as the required part number.
What are the signs of a failing water pump impeller?
Common symptoms include a weak or no water stream from the "tell-tale" pisser outlet, the engine overheating alarm activating, or steam coming from the exhaust. Upon physical inspection, a failing impeller may appear dry, cracked, have broken vanes, or be permanently deformed.
How often should I replace my outboard's impeller?
For preventative maintenance, it is highly recommended to inspect the impeller annually and replace it every 1-2 years or after every 100-200 hours of operation. More frequent replacement may be necessary if you operate primarily in saltwater or in water with high levels of sand or silt.
Is lubrication required during installation?
Yes. To prevent damage to the new impeller on initial startup, apply a light coat of water-resistant marine grease or a simple water-and-soap solution to the inside of the pump housing and to the impeller vanes. This ensures a smooth first run before water circulates.
What's the main difference between this and an OEM part?
This is a an aftermarket part built to meet or exceed OEM specifications for performance and fit. It offers a cost-effective alternative to the genuine brand-name part without sacrificing quality or reliability.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
