Installation Notes

- Drain the gearcase oil from the lower unit.

- With the lower unit on a workbench, unbolt and remove the water pump housing.
- Note the arrangement of gaskets and wear plates, then slide the old impeller off the driveshaft. Be sure to collect the small drive key.
- Clean all surfaces and inspect the housing and wear plate for scoring or distortion. Replace if damage is found.
- Install the drive key, then slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft. Use a light coating of marine grease or soapy water to lubricate the housing interior.
- Rotate the driveshaft in its normal rotational direction (typically clockwise) while pushing down on the impeller to seat it with the blades correctly oriented.
- Reassemble the pump housing with new gaskets (highly recommended, not included) and tighten bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
- Reinstall the lower unit, reconnecting all linkages, and refill the gearcase with fresh oil.
