Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I confirm this kit fits my specific Honda outboard?
The best way to confirm fitment is by checking your engine's model and serial number against the compatibility table. For BF75D and BF90D models, pay close attention to the frame serial number cutoffs listed in the 'Notes' column.
What are the signs of a failing water pump impeller?
Common signs include a weak or non-existent water stream from the "telltale" outlet, engine overheating alerts, and steam from the exhaust. A dry, cracked, or brittle impeller upon inspection confirms it needs replacement.
How often should I replace my outboard's impeller?
As a preventative maintenance measure, it's recommended to replace the impeller every 1-2 years or every 100-200 hours of use, whichever comes first. Usage in saltwater or silty/sandy conditions may require more frequent changes.
Is the impeller material different from the original Honda part?
This kit uses a high-performance neoprene rubber compound designed to meet or exceed OEM specifications for durability, chemical resistance, and flexibility across a wide range of temperatures, ensuring reliable performance.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
