Installation Notes

  1. Ensure the engine is off and the fuel system is depressurized. Place an absorbent cloth under the connection point to catch any spills.
  2. Disconnect the old fuel hose connector from the fuel tank fitting. This may require releasing a locking mechanism or clamp.
  3. Loosen the hose clamp securing the fuel line to the old connector and carefully twist and pull the connector off the hose.
  4. Inspect the end of the fuel hose for cracks or damage; trim if necessary for a clean connection.
  5. Slide the hose clamp onto the fuel hose, then push the new connector's barb fully into the hose.
  6. Position the hose clamp approximately 1/4" from the end of the hose and tighten securely.
  7. Attach the new connector to the fuel tank fitting, ensuring it clicks or locks into place.
  8. Prime the fuel system according to your engine's manual and check thoroughly for leaks before starting the engine.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if my fuel hose connector needs replacing?

Signs of a failing fuel connector include visible fuel leaks at the connection point, difficulty connecting or disconnecting the fuel line, a loose fit, or engine performance issues like stalling or hesitation, which can be caused by air entering the fuel system through a bad seal.

Will this connector fit a fuel hose other than 5/16"?

No, this connector is specifically designed with a barb for a 5/16" (8mm) internal diameter fuel hose. Using it with a different size hose will result in a poor seal, leading to fuel leaks or air ingress.

Is any special tool required for installation?

Typically, you will only need a screwdriver or nut driver to loosen and tighten the hose clamp. No other special tools are usually required for replacing this type of connector.

What is the difference between the tank-end and engine-end connector?

Fuel line connectors are often keyed differently at the tank end versus the engine end to prevent incorrect connection. This part is specifically for the fuel tank side and may not fit the connection on the outboard engine itself.

Is this connector resistant to ethanol-blended fuels?

Yes, the materials used are designed to be compatible with modern gasoline, including fuels blended with ethanol (up to E10). However, prolonged exposure to higher ethanol concentrations can accelerate wear on any fuel system component.

Can a leaking connector be repaired?

No, fuel hose connectors are not serviceable. If the internal seals or locking mechanism are worn or damaged, the entire connector must be replaced to ensure a safe, leak-free connection.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
