Installation Notes
- Shut off the engine, let it cool, and close the raw water intake valve (seacock).
- Remove the screws from the water pump cover plate. Note their length and position if they vary.
- Pry off the cover plate. You may need to tap it gently. Remove the old O-ring or gasket and any residue.
- Use impeller pullers or two pairs of pliers to grip the hub and pull the old impeller straight out. Avoid damaging the pump housing.
- Clean the interior of the pump housing, removing any debris or old impeller fragments. Check for scoring or damage.
- Apply the supplied glycerin-based grease to the inside of the pump housing and the new impeller blades.
- Insert the new impeller by pushing it into the center while twisting in the direction of engine rotation to bend the blades correctly.
- Install the new O-ring into its groove on the cover plate.
- Re-install the cover plate, ensuring it is aligned correctly, and tighten the screws evenly in a star pattern.
- Open the seacock fully.
- Start the engine and immediately check for proper water flow from the exhaust and for any leaks around the pump cover.
