Installation Notes
- Before starting, disconnect the engine's battery and turn off the fuel supply.
- Remove the lower unit (gearcase) from the outboard motor.
- Unscrew the bolts holding the water pump housing and remove the cover.
- Note the rotational direction of the old impeller's blades before pulling it off the driveshaft.
- Thoroughly clean the inside of the water pump housing and the wear plate of any debris or corrosion.
- Apply a liberal amount of glycerine, silicone grease, or dish soap to the new impeller and inside the housing.
- Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft while turning the shaft clockwise to correctly orient the blades.
- Reinstall the water pump housing, ensuring a proper seal. Reattach the lower unit to the engine.
- Reconnect the battery, start the engine in water, and confirm a steady stream of water from the tell-tale outlet.
