Installation Notes

1. Before starting, disconnect the engine's battery and gather all necessary tools.
2. Unbolt and remove the lower gearcase unit from the outboard motor.
3. Locate and remove the water pump housing bolts, then carefully lift the housing off the driveshaft.
4. Slide the old impeller up and off the driveshaft, and remove the Woodruff key from its slot.
5. Inspect the wear plate and inside of the pump housing for scoring, warping, or corrosion. Clean all surfaces thoroughly.
6. Install the new Woodruff key into the driveshaft slot.
7. Slide the new impeller onto the shaft, aligning its keyway with the key. Gently twist the driveshaft clockwise while pushing down to seat the impeller and bend the vanes correctly.
8. Re-apply sealant to the housing if required, then reinstall the housing and torque its bolts to the manufacturer's specified value.
9. Re-install the lower unit, reconnect the battery, and test the engine in water to verify a strong tell-tale stream.
