Troubleshooting & FAQ
Will this hardware kit fit my engine?
This kit is a universal replacement for BRP Evinrude outboards requiring OEM part 175268. While it fits a broad range of models, it is most commonly specified for 20-35HP engines. To ensure compatibility, please verify your part number against our Part Number Matrix.
When should I replace my propeller hardware?
It is best practice to replace your propeller nut and cotter pin every time you replace your propeller. You should also install a new kit immediately if you notice any signs of corrosion, thread damage, or wear.
What are signs of a failing propeller nut or cotter pin?
Telltale signs include excessive propeller vibration, rattling or clunking sounds from the gearcase area, or visible corrosion and wear on the nut or pin. A loose propeller can cause poor performance and potential damage to the driveshaft.
Can I reuse my old cotter pin?
No. Cotter pins are single-use safety items. Reusing a pin dramatically increases the risk of failure, which could lead to the loss of your propeller and costly damage. Always use the new cotter pin supplied in the kit.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
