Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cover.
- Drain the lower unit gear lube.
- Remove the lower unit by unbolting it from the engine's midsection and disconnecting the shift linkage.
- Place the lower unit on a stable workbench.
- Unbolt and remove the water pump housing cover.
- Carefully inspect the housing and wear plate for scoring, warping, or corrosion. Replace if damage is found.
- Remove the old impeller, noting the direction of the vanes.
- Clean the driveshaft and housing interior. Lightly grease the shaft.
- Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft, turning the shaft clockwise to bend the vanes correctly.
- Apply a thin layer of grease to the inside of the water pump housing.
- Reinstall the housing and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specification.
- Re-install the lower unit, reconnect shift linkage, refill gear lube, and test the engine with a reliable water supply.
