Troubleshooting & FAQ

Will this kit fit my 2015 Yamaha T9.9LEX?

Yes, based on the compatibility chart, this kit is the correct replacement for Yamaha T9.9 models from 2013–2017, including the T9.9LEX high-thrust model.

How can I tell if my water pump impeller is failing?

Common signs include a weak or intermittent water stream from the "telltale" outlet, the engine overheating alarm sounding, or visible steam from the exhaust. A physical inspection showing cracked, brittle, or missing impeller vanes confirms it needs replacement.

What's the difference between part number 69G-W0078-01-00 and 69G-W0078-02-00?

Part number 69G-W0078-02-00 is the latest version that supersedes 69G-W0078-01-00. They are functionally identical for the listed models, but the newer part may include minor material or design updates from the original manufacturer.

How often should I replace my outboard's impeller?

As a preventative maintenance item, it is recommended to replace the impeller every 1-2 years or every 100-200 hours of operation, whichever comes first. Usage in saltwater or sandy/silty conditions may require more frequent changes.

The kit includes two part numbers for the bolts. Which one do I use?

The two bolt part numbers (97080-08045-00 and 97095-08045-00) are functionally interchangeable for this application. Manufacturers often have multiple part numbers for the same hardware from different suppliers. All four included bolts will fit correctly.

Can I buy just the impeller instead of the whole kit?

While impellers are available separately, it is best practice to replace the entire kit. Related components like the housing insert, plate, and seals wear over time and can cause a new impeller to fail prematurely if not also replaced.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
