This Mercury Cool Fuel Module Kit is a complete service kit designed for MerCruiser engines equipped with Gen III Cool Fuel systems. It is compatible with a wide range of MerCruiser sterndrive and inboard engines, including 5.0L, 350 MAG, 377 MAG, 496, 8.1L, and 8.2L models.
This module is a direct replacement for Mercury/MerCruiser part numbers 8M0047215, 864650A05, and 864650A13.
- Installation: Installs as a direct replacement for Gen III Cool Fuel systems. Note: older systems may require an additional hose kit.
- Connections: Features threaded hose barb fittings for cooling water hoses.

Installation Notes
Per service bulletin 09-01, additional parts are needed when upgrading original Gen III Cool Fuel modules. The primary design change involves the cooling water hose connections. This new service kit is compatible with both original and updated designs, but earlier applications will require a separate hose kit to adapt the connections. Depending on your configuration, you will need one of the following kits:
- Two bib hose kit: 865317T02
- Three bib hose kit: 865208T02

How do I know if this fuel module will fit my engine?
This kit fits specific MerCruiser Gen III engines up to 2008 within certain serial number ranges. Please carefully check the compatibility tables and verify your engine model, year, and serial number (e.g., must be below 1A343749 for 350 MAG models). Cross-referencing the part number on your existing module is the best way to guarantee fitment.
What are the signs of a failing cool fuel module?
Common symptoms include the engine hesitating or bogging down, vapor lock, stalling at idle, difficulty starting, or a measurable drop in fuel pressure. A physical inspection might also reveal fuel or water leaks, or cracks in the plastic housing.
My original module has different hose connections. Will this work?
Yes, this is an updated design. However, to install it on an engine with the original module, you must also purchase a new hose kit. Choose kit 865317T02 for two-bib configurations or 865208T02 for three-bib configurations.
Is this the entire fuel pump assembly?
Yes, this is a complete Cool Fuel Module assembly. It includes the internal high and low-pressure fuel pumps, the fuel reservoir housing, and the necessary installation fittings, seals, and plugs as shown in the "What's in the Box" section.
