Installation Notes

Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cowling to prevent accidental starting.
Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gearcase oil drain/fill screws to empty the oil.
Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the midsection and carefully lower it from the engine.
Unbolt the existing water pump housing. You may need to gently pry it loose if it is stuck.
Remove the old impeller, gaskets, wear plate, and seals, taking note of their orientation for reassembly.
Thoroughly clean the driveshaft and all mating surfaces on the gearcase, removing any old gasket material or sealant.
Install the new gaskets, wear plate, impeller key, and impeller. Ensure the key is properly seated and the impeller vanes are oriented correctly (typically bent counter-clockwise during housing installation).
Install the new housing and seals, tightening the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque in a crisscross pattern.
Carefully reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube align correctly.
Refill the gearcase with fresh marine-grade gear oil according to your engine's manual.
Before launching the boat, use a flush attachment ("muffs") to supply water to the engine and check for a strong, steady stream from the telltale outlet.
