- Using an oil filter wrench, carefully unscrew and remove the old filter.
- Wipe the filter mounting surface on the engine block clean with a lint-free cloth.
- Apply a thin film of clean engine oil to the gasket of the new filter.
- Screw the new filter on by hand until the gasket makes firm contact with the engine block.
- Tighten the filter an additional 3/4 to one full turn by hand. Do not overtighten.
- Run the engine for a few minutes and check carefully for any leaks around the filter.
