Installation Notes
- Prepare the engine by running it for a few minutes to warm the oil, then shut it off.
- Place a drain pan under the old filter to catch any spills.
- Unscrew the old filter using an oil filter wrench. It will be full of oil, so handle carefully.
- Wipe the filter mounting surface on the engine clean with a lint-free rag.
- Apply a thin film of new engine oil to the gasket of the new filter.
- Screw the new filter on by hand until the gasket makes contact with the mounting surface.
- Tighten the filter an additional 3/4 to one full turn according to manufacturer specifications. Do not over-tighten.
- Refill the engine with the correct type and amount of new oil.
- Start the engine and check for leaks around the new filter. Shut off the engine and re-check the oil level, topping off if necessary.
