Installation Notes
- Ensure the engine is off and in neutral, with the ignition key removed.
- Secure the propeller to prevent it from rotating. A block of wood between the anti-ventilation plate and a prop blade works well.
- Straighten the ends of the old cotter pin with pliers and pull it out.
- Unscrew the propeller nut and remove it along with any washers and spacers. Keep them in order for reference.
- Slide the propeller off the shaft. Clean any debris from the shaft splines.
- Lightly grease the propeller shaft with marine-grade grease.
- Slide the new components on in the correct order: splined spacer washer, propeller, flat washer, and propeller nut.
- Tighten the nut to the manufacturer's recommended torque specification. Do not overtighten.
- Align a slot on the nut with the hole in the propeller shaft. You may need to tighten slightly to get alignment, but do not loosen.
- Insert the new cotter pin through the hole and bend its ends to lock it in place.
